We have been wondering why Casio created a new line-up for smartwatches with the ProTrek series and did not got with the G-Shock version of smartwatches. The G-Shock made the Casio’s line-up of wrist watches relevant in the competitive world of wristwatches. The G-Shock series dominated the world of affordable yet sport rugged smartwatches. But despite its familiar, well known branding, Casio go with the ProTrek for its smartwatches. Anyways, still with the Casio’s name and track record for its wrist watches, the ProTrek smartwatch is a success. Versions included are ProTrek WSD-F30, WSD-F21, WSD-F21HR.

Finally, Casio upgraded its G-Shock line-up with the addition of smartwatch version, although there is already a G-Shock Bluetooth connected watch in the market, it can barely be called a true G-Shock smartwatch. This time the G-Shock GBD-H1-000 version, it has that G-Shock feel and vibe loaded with smart sensors and features. It has a durable, outdoor rugged design, a metal body that is full waterproof and it is encase in a thick TPU material, giving it a durable sturdy body.

It is a shock resistant smartwatch with its complex rugged shape that prevents direct shock to its body with 20 bar water resistant feature.

The wearable is packed with sensors such as optical sensor, a triple sensor that measures altitude/barometric pressure sensor, compass bearing and temperature. It is also equipped with accelerometer sensor and with built-in GPS. The smartwatch can acquire data from GLONASS as well as Q25S satellite sensors if the GPS won’ work right away.

The smartwatch similar to ProTrek having an MIP LCD (memory in pixel LCD), a power saving screen with a very good viewing angle as well as brightness and contrast that makes it very clear in direct sunlight. The display is also equipped with LED backlight (full ambient, super illuminator).

Another feature that makes it a great outdoor smartwatch is the option for solar charging aside from USB charging. The device can run vial Solar, other functions will work such as step counter aside from showing time. With the USB charging, in just a single charge, the smartwatch can run up to 14 hours.

Of course, it got the usual such as step tracking, multi-mode sports with VO2 Max measurements, advanced fitness analytics with FirstBeat technology, call and message notifications, stop watch, training analysis and more. The smartwatch will be available on April 2020 in different online stores and Casio partnered store worldwide.
