Mi Smart Band 5 Global RollOut – Sadly there is no NFC
Finally, after almost over a month, the global version of Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is here. If you are new to the world of fitness tracker, Xiaomi Mi Band is a popular affordable fitness tracker from Xiaomi. The latest version is the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, it was unveiled last June 2020 in China. And now, the smartband is made available in international market, with the name Mi Smart Band 5.
Although it has a slightly different name, the Mi Smart Band 5 comes with almost the same features and specs with that of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. Still, it has the same 1.1” inch display, its AMOLED display has 126 x 29 pixel resolution. It has the same set of sensors and battery having 125 mAh battery with 20 days of standby time.
But there are some features missing in the Global version, contrary to the rumored specs reported by several tech sites. The Mi Smart Band 5 don’t have a support for NFC, so far the NFC variant is only available in China, it also does not support the Xiaomi’s Voice assistant XiaoAI. There are news that it will be replaced by Alexa AI, but so far its all just purely speculations.
The Mi Smart Band 5 only got a few options for straps, 6 color option compared to 8 options for Chinese version. 65 preloaded watch faces available, whereas the Chinese version do have 100 watch faces.
