Xiaomi SmartBand 8 Active – is a Redmi Smartband 2 Reloaded!
This is a surprised as we did not expect the Xiaomi Smartband 8 Active. The wearable does have a sporty look, and somewhat like the Redmi Smartband 2. Lets check out the details on this new wearable, and we will have a specs comparison below to see if its just the Redmi fitness tracker with additional features.
Design and Build Quality of Xiaomi SmartBand 8 Active
The Xiaomi Smartband 8 Active is a lightweight wearable, that is loaded with new features. In terms of design, the fitness tracker has a rectangular PC material, that is available in black color only. But the strap is available in different color options. Pick from Ivory, Olive, Blue, Black, and Pink color. It has a slim body frame measuring 42.81mm × 25.42mm × 9.99mm, and weighs around 14.9 grams without the strap.
In terms of durability especially for water protection, the fitness tracker is waterproof up to 50 meters. You can take the wearable during your swimming, no worries on your daily activities as the smartwatch is well protected from splashes of water, rain, sweat.
Screen Display of Xiaomi Smartband 8 Active
The fitness tracker has a 1.47″ inch TFT display with an average resolution of 172 x 320 pixels, and 247 PPI. When it comes to screen brightness, the wearable has 450 nits, which is not bad when compared to other wearables. On top of the screen display is the 2.5D micro-curved tempered glass with anti-fingerprint coating.
Features of Xiaomi Smartband 8 Active
With its slim form factor, the wearable is packed with features when it comes to sports, health, and other smart functions. When it comes to sports, the wearable is certainly packed with at least 50 sports functions.
With regards to health monitoring functions, the smartband is loaded with optical heart rate monitoring, checking your HR 24/7. There is also a blood oxygen monitoring, checking the blood oxygen saturation right on the device. Another health function included are sleep tracking, auto tracking of your sleep stages. For women, there is a female health tracking, checking the female physiological status of women such as menstrual period, and more. If you want to check the stress level, you can check it right on the smartband.
For personalization, the fitness tracker is also loaded with several watch faces, plus you can download additional watch faces on the app. At least 100+ watch faces are available for download with support also for custom watch faces.
Some of the difference between Redmi and Xiaomi bands, we noticed so far
- 50 sports mode on Xiaomi Smartband 8 active, while Redmi Smartband 2 only have 30 sports mode
- An additional Snazzy green for the Redmi
We don’t have the complete data yet for the Xiaomi Smartband 8 active/Xiaomi Mi Band 8 active, but based on the specs, I guess it is safe to say that it is just the same fitness tracker with few tweaks. I guess we still have to wait for the availability on the 8 Active in the market to confirm.
