Here is welcome news in the world of wearables. Facebook is planning to develop or maybe in the process of building a smartwatch with the possibility of releasing it in the market next year.
Based on the report by The Information, Facebook will join the smartwatch world with its own wearable, with exclusive integration to different features and functions of its platform Facebook. There is a big possibility that it will be a hit, especially if its integrated with Facebook, it might be an irresistible smartwatch, especially for smartwatch fans.
Here are some of the possible features of the Facebook Smart watch, fresh from the rumor mill
According to the report, the wearable might run the Android operating system. It is not yet sure whether the OS will be the Wear OS by Google or maybe a tweak Android OS. Anyways, the wearable will be focusing on health and fitness according to the report. As we already stated, the Facebook Smart watch will likely to have an integration of Facebook, especially Facebook messaging and other products of the company.
The smartwatch is said to have cellular capabilities making it independent from your smartphone. You can receive notifications, call and messaging independently especially Facebook notifications. But we also expect that Facebook will release a different variant where it needs a smartphone for its notifications to work.
This is not the first time that Facebook enters the hardware arena, remember that Facebook also ventured into virtual reality devices, Portal video streaming, and the recent Facebook Reality Labs division. As Facebook widens its scope in the hardware section, we think that there is a big possibility that a fitness tracker might also be included in the line-up, but this will depend on the success of the Facebook smartwatch.
