Amazfit Ares Smartwatch – Specs Review
Design
As I have said before, the Amazfit Ares is a rectangular/octagonal version of the Amazfit rugged smartwatch, Amazfit T-Rex. The Amazfit Ares smartwatch has a rugged design, beautiful, compact, sporty smartwatch. Its specs reveals that the device has a US military standard (MIL-STD-810G) certification, a rating certifying that the device can withstand extreme conditions. It is a full waterproof smartwatch up to 50 meters.
According to its details, it will be available in two columns, black and khaki green. The body is made of PC material with sporty silicon, sweat permeable strap with steel buckle. The design has three physical buttons to operate the device, but its also support touch screen operation.
Display
The rectangular display is 1.28” inch full color AMOLED screen with touch screen support. Based on the promotional images, the Amazfit Ares will not got with the reflective display as we have seen with the Amazfit BIP. The display added a protection to the device with its Gorilla glass screen, able to withstand scratches and chipping.
Under the Hood
The Amazfit Ares smartwatch has 3 axis acceleration sensor, BioTrackerTM PPG optical sensor. It also has a built-in GPS+ GLONASS for outdoor activity map tracking. The smartwatch has Bluetooth 4.2 BLE compatible with iOS and Android platform.
Features
Regarding its features, the wearable has the usual call and message notifications, weather, automatic step tracking with calorie and distance counter. One of the main feature of the Amazfit Ares is the 70 sports mode and it is accompanied by FIRSTBEAT technology and HUAMI PAI. Some of the popular sports included are walking, running, cycle indoor, cycle outdoor, swimming, skiing, hiking, pool swimming and more. It also has some stylish preloaded watch faces, always on display support, sedentary reminders and other smart notifications.
Battery
The smartwatch is loaded with 200 mAh battery with 90 days of standby time, that is about 3 months. 13 days in normal usage and 23 hours when GPS is activated.
