Xiaomi Amazfit Smartwatch is out finally, the watch was unveiled today in China, and so far we are not surprised with the price and specs that Xiaomi loaded to its first smartwatch. Still in the affordable category the watch does have a sporty look with fitness features loaded inside.
Physical Look – the watch at first glance look like a sport watch, many tech expert see a resemblance from the Moto 360 sports, according to Xiaomi, the Amazfit do have a ceramic bezel that protects it from scratches, with .22 mm quick release band that is also compatible with third party watch straps. It is not yet known whether it uses a Gorilla glass screen or not, with the price specs, it is very possible that Xiaomi goes with a much lesser price glass but with the same durability with Gorilla. The smartwatch has a vibrant display with its 300 x 300 pixel, 1.23 inch screen, we don’t see any physical button on the side, so it is possibly that Xiaomi opt to go with full touch screen operation on the watch.
Under the Hood – based on the specs reported the Xiaomi Amazfit smartwatch do have is 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, with a 200mAh that provide a 5 day battery life in normal usage which is pretty impressive, it is also IP67 dustproof and waterproof and with Bluetooth 4.0BLE + WIFI for its connectivity, so far there are three sensors that was announced a pedometer, a heart rate sensor and a 28nm GPS sensor, which according to XIAOMI is the world’s first in smartwatch. On the software side Xiaomi choose to used its own proprietary software instead of using Android Wear or Tizen, apps and features of software includes push notifications, weather reports, messages and it is also integrated with Alibaba’s mobile payment service AliPay.
