Design – Withings continuous to improve its hybrid watch offering, after the Activité Steel hybrid watch, Withings put more features to the newest hybrid watch in its lineup, the Withings Steel HR. The watch comes in two sizes, a 36mm case and larger 40mm version and I guess Withings made it right with the hybrid watch, it is a mix of digital and analog, the right blend, right mix of hybrid smartwatch.
The watch still has the analog touch by telling time, but added a twist in how it show notifications, instead of color coded markings or just a short hand moving to a specific markings to tell a specific notification, Withings instead added a small circular digital display, that shows notifications and other details, such as alarm, calendar reminder, e-mail, incoming call, text message somewhat like a notifications that you see in fitness bands, a brief information but just right to keep you noted. It is far from perfect but just right for those who are looking for a smartwatch but would still want the analog classic way of telling time. The hybrid smartwatch is 5 ATM and with an interchangeable band, so far in just a single charge the hybrid watch can last up to 25 days.
Under the Hood – notifications such as pedometer and other fitness tracker in the Withings Steel HR rely on the day & night motion sensor high precision MEMS 3-axis accelerometer loaded in the hybrid smartwatch, the heart rate monitor is dynamic able to provide you a report of your heart rate every few minutes. The hybrid smartwatch is able to detect 10+ activities, start workings out and the hybrid watch will try to record your activity automatically. It also includes sleep notifications and a smartphone app that has intuitive UI providing you clear and statistics of your health and workout.
