Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch – Specs Review
Design
The Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is here, just like other WearOS smartwatch, the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch has that luxurious look and feel. It has a steel body having 12 mm in thickness only. The body has three physical buttons on the side and as expected, it has a 22 mm strap that is interchangeable, pick from luxurious steel strap or elegant leather strap. It’s a beautiful looking smartwatch that is waterproof up to 30 meters.
Display
We don’t have details yet on the size of the scree, what we know is that is has a full circular display, a color screen with sharp colors and bright display. The smartwatch has a full touch screen method of operation. And it is protected by a tempered glass, possibly a Corning Gorilla glass display.
Under the Hood
The smartwatch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 processor and runs the latest WearOS by Google. It has an 8 GB of storage space and 1 GB of RAM. When it comes to sensors, Fossil loaded it with accelerometer, altimeter, ambient light and gyroscope. It also has a heart rate monitor, an NFC function. The device has a Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, compatible with Android 4.4 and iOS 9.3 and above.
Features
Aside from call and message notifications, the smartwatch is packed with activity tracking, Bluetooth music control. Although there is no built-in GPS, the Fossil Gen 5 has untethered GPS to track your run distance. There is also a weather feature, alarm, calendar alerts, date reminder, automatic time zones, social watch faces and customizable dials.
Additional Functions
Extra features included are anti-lost, stop watch, LED flashlight, Google Pay for its NFC. There is also a Google Assistant with its built in speaker and mic.
Battery
When it comes to battery, the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is equipped with rapid charging, it has 36 hours of battery life in clock mode in just a single charge.
