Design – Huami Amazfit next generation smartwatch is here, official name Amazfit Verge. The smartwatch has a sporty look with its PC body and silicon strap, the design is similar to that of the Pace and the Tic Watch S, with plain look and a single physical button it is lightweight and with a minimalist design.
The device has a 1.3” inch AMOLED screen protected by a Gorilla Glass 3 coated with anti-fingerprint, it has touch screen support and with 360 x 360 pixel resolution providing sharp and vivid colors. It has a built-in mic and speaker and with IP68 waterproof rating, but not swim proof.
Under the Hood – the smartwatch runs the Amazfit OS, based on Android O.S, and powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, it comes with 512MBof RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
Connectivity includes NFC payment, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g (2.4GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, GLONASS. It is also jump packed with variety of sensors such as optical sensor, acceleration sensor, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, air pressure sensor, ambient light sensor, wearing detection sensor.
Features at least 11 sport mode running, walking, skiing, ball games, indoor exercises and more. With its built-in microphone you can instruct the smartwatch with the help of Xiaomi’s Xiao AI voice assistant and directly control 11 Mijia products such as air purifier, wall switch, a sweeping robot, rice cooker, electric fan or air conditioning as well as other smartwatch functions.
Additional functions include new designed watch faces in partnership with Territory Studio, make and receive calls on your wrist, Alipay Offline payment, read message notifications alarms and more.
The Amazfit Verge has a 390 mAh Lithium Polymer Battery with 5 Days battery life, depending on the usage, but expect that the battery life will be much shorter if GPS is enabled. Anyways, the smartwatch is simple in design but packed with features, the swimming feature has been removed in favour of the mic and speaker for voice assistant and other functions that needs it.
