Physical Looks – Asus as always brings elegant premium product in the market, after its ZenWatch 2, Asus goes with the flow with its smartwatches, instead of a rectangular design similar to Zenwatch 2, the wearable has a circular display, I guess consumers prefer a circular display for smartwatches as known brand companies choose this design on their smartwatches, with their latest product offerings.
I guess Asus did not go wrong with decision on the circular design as it goes pretty well with the 1.39 inch AMOLED screen display, with 400 x 400 resolutions that is one of the highest resolutions for wearables. The stainless steel body looks great and classy, it has three buttons on the side, and the center as the button for display and the other two circular buttons is for app shortcut, programmable to your own liking. It is using its proprietary watch strap so don’t expect to swap it with your own .22 mm watch straps.
Under the Hood– the smartwatch is using Qualcomm’s wearable processor, the SnapDragon 2100. Another company that uses the processor in its new smartwatches is Fossil. Anyways the said processor is designed for wearables making it fast, power smart with its Hyper Charge features.
The watch works with its ZenFit app, which automatically counts the steps and other fitness and sport activities such as running, walking, sit-ups, and push-ups. Sadly Asus did not include a heart rate monitor which is becoming pretty standard for wearables. It runs Android Wear 2.0 but it is still early to say whether it can perform well with the latest OS running in the SnapDragon 2100 processor. Asus boast its 50 exclusive designer watch faces, but to be honest I’m not impresses with it, as the Android Wear store is already flooded with watch faces which is pretty similar with watch faces that comes with new smartwatches.
OverAll – it’s a good looking watch, there is no contest about that, the quick charge technology that can charge your Asus ZenWatch 3 60% loaded in 15 minutes is a great feature. It is just disappointing that Asus choose not to load it with a heart rate monitor which could have been a good addition to its marketing points.
