Garmin Fenix 6/Pro Smartwatch – Specs Review
Design
Garmin is back with a series of Fenix smartwatches, the latest is the Garmin Fenix 6, a smartwatch with a premium fitness and rugged look. The smartwatch is available in titanium, stainless steel or diamond like carbon (DLC) coated steel. The bezel of the Fenix 6 gives the device a more prominent rugged look, it is either stainless steel or diamond like carbon (DLC) while the strap material is either silicone, leather, titanium or nylon.
And according to Garmin, they can vouch on its durability as the smartwatch is tested to U.S military standards. Well, for the weight, with the steel case it is about 83 grams, titanium is about 72 grams. Overall, the body is waterproof up to 10 ATM.
Display
The wearable has a sunlight visible transflective memory in pixel display. It is 1.3” inch MIP with 260 x 260 pixel resolution. It is protected by a Corning Gorilla glass 3 display or the other option for much more durable premium glass, Sapphire material which is more scratch resistant.
Under the Hood
Garmin Fenix 6/Pro is a fitness and sport smartwatch, its no wonder that Garmin packed it with a lot of sensors. The Fnix 6 has a Garmin Elevate wrist heart rate monitor, Barometric altimeter, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, thermometer, Pulse Ox and three trajectory map sensors, GPS, GLONASS and Galileo.
Connectivity includes NFC, WIF and Bluetooth, now words on the processor, the smartwatch has 32 GB of storage space.
Features
The smartwatch features sport apps, preloaded activity for trail running, swimming, running, biking, hiking, rowing, round trip routing. It provide precise location with its multi-GNSS support, GPS, GLONASS and Galileo.
It also has music apps, store up to 2,000 songs. Access Spotify, Deezer and Amazon music, listen to your favourite music via Bluetooth connection.
With NFC support, you can use the Garmin Pay service, contactless payment using your smartwatch. Received call and text messages, it also supports social app messaging. Pulse Ox2 sensor, to check how your body is absorbing oxygen. If that is not enough, you can download a lot of custom watch faces, apps and widgets with Connect IQ Store.
Battery
No details on the capacity of the device but based on its specs, the wearable has 48 hours of battery life in battery saver watch mode, 36 hours on GPS, 10 hours on GPS and music while Expedition GPS activity will last up to 28 days.
